This Kaplan University Privacy Statement applies to Kaplan University's web site at www.alumni.kaplan.edu (the "Kaplan University Alumni Site") and the services offered via the Kaplan University Alumni Site (the "Kaplan University Alumni Services"). Personal Information. When you register to become a member of Kaplan University Alumni site, you will be asked to provide certain personal information. Examples of the personal information that we collect include, but are not limited to, your name, address, e-mail address, and gender.

IP Addresses. An internet protocol address ("IP address") is the unique number that identifies the computer you are using to browse the Internet. Kaplan University uses IP addresses to analyze trends, administer the Kaplan University Alumni Site, track users' movements, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use.

 

DISCLOSURE AND USE OF INFORMATION COLLECTED

 

Information Provided During Registration. The personal information you provide us when registering as a member of the Kaplan University Alumni Site will not be visible to other users unless you explicitly allow it to be as part of your member profile.

Your member profile may be accessed and viewed by other members of the Kaplan University Alumni Site. You may choose to opt-out of this public disclosure of your member profile by adjusting the privacy settings in your member profile. You may change or edit information about yourself in your member profile at any time.

Posted Information. The Kaplan University Alumni Site allows you to post information in public forums. Any information you voluntarily disclose through this medium is necessarily disclosed to the public.

E-Mail and Promotional Materials. We send all new members a welcome e-mail to verify password and username. Kaplan University reserves the right to send promotional materials in the future.

Aggregate Information Shared with Third Parties. From time to time, we may disclose anonymous information or personal information about our members in the form of aggregated statistics to third parties for marketing purposes.

Other Third Party Disclosure. Kaplan University reserves the right to disclose any personal information about you or your use of the Kaplan University Alumni Site/Services, including its content, without your prior permission if Kaplan University has a good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (1) conform to legal requirements or comply with legal process; (2) protect and defend the rights or property of Kaplan University or its affiliated companies; (3) enforce the Terms of Use; or (4) act to protect the interests of its members or others.

The Kaplan University Site may contain images of and links to third party web sites ("Linked Sites"). The Linked Sites are not under the control of Kaplan University and Kaplan University is not responsible for the content of any Linked Site. Use of information collected at Linked Sites is subject to any privacy policies at those sites.

 

DATA FROM CHILDREN

 

Kaplan University does not collect data from individuals that identify themselves as children under the age of thirteen, and the Kaplan University Alumni Site/Services are not intended for use by children under the age of thirteen. If Kaplan University becomes aware that it has received information from a child under the age of thirteen, we will delete all personally identifiable information concerning that child from our records.

 

SECURITY

 

Kaplan University wants your personal information to remain as secure as reasonably possible. Kaplan University Alumni Site secures the personal information you provide on computer servers in a controlled, secure environment, protected from unauthorized access. When highly confidential information, such as a credit card number, is transmitted over the Internet, it is protected through the use of encryption, such as the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol.

The Kaplan University Privacy Statement is subject to change at any time. If any material changes are made to this Privacy Statement, we will notify you by posting the revised date next to the privacy policy link on our home page.
